Halibut Cove Lagoon Water Taxi
Travelling south across the Bay through Halibut Cove* sits Halibut Cove Lagoon. Located within Kachemak Bay State Park, Halibut Cove Lagoon is a hidden destination that is protected from most weather conditions. This is a popular meeting spot for hikers, fishers, and paddlers alike.
Hikers wil find trailheads for China Poot Lake Trail, Lagoon Trail, and Coalition Trail which loops back to connect to China Poot Lake Trail. Fishers make use of the shores and public dock that juts into the bay of the cove. The month of June is most popular for fishers looking to hook King Salmon.
Paddlers and kayakers, both novice and experienced, enjoy calm protected waters to float about the bay.
All visitors can enjoy sightings of bears, moose, birds, porpoises, seals, sea otters, and the occasional land otter. Visitors can also view China Poot (Leisure) Lake and Poot Peak. There are three public use cabins (East, West, and the Overlook) which overlook the lagoon and can be used to extend your day trip into an overnight stay.
