At 49North Adventures & Water Taxi, we’ve crafted a cancellation and refund policy that is both fair and mindful of the realities of operating a locally owned, small Alaskan business. Like many adventure-focused operations in Homer, we are not part of a large hotel or tour chain. We are a family-run business with deep roots in this community, and we are proud to share Kachemak Bay and the surrounding areas with guests from around the world.
Our season is short and our capacity is limited, which means last-minute cancellations can be especially challenging to recover from. We encourage all guests to understand the impact that cancellations can have on small businesses like ours and plan accordingly.
We’ve seen cancellations due to sudden illness, airline route changes, and government travel restrictions. We strongly encourage guests to purchase travel insurance to protect their trip investment.
Travel Insurance
Your trip is an important investment, and travel insurance can offer peace of mind. Policies often cover unexpected issues such as illness, flight disruptions and natural disasters We recommend looking into travel insurance options from AIG Travel Guard, AIG Sportsman’s Travel Insurance, or AAA Travel Insurance.
Cancellations & Refunds
100% Refund for cancellations made with at least 72 hours’ notice (3 days prior to your scheduled trip).
50% Refund for cancellations made with at least 48 hours’ notice (2 days prior to your trip).
No Refunds for same-day cancellations or no-shows.
100% Refund if the trip is cancelled by 49North due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions.
You are welcome to transfer your reservation to another guest if you are unable to attend.
Weather & Itinerary Changes
We want every trip to be safe, enjoyable, and successful. Sometimes, nature has other plans. In rare instances, volcanic activity, marine weather, extreme tides, or wildlife regulations may force us to alter your itinerary or cancel a specific trip. In these cases, we will do our best to reschedule your booking or provide a comparable alternative.
For our remote drop-offs and specialty excursions, weather in Kachemak Bay can occasionally make certain destinations unreachable. If a full cancellation is required due to weather, we will refund the full cost of that trip or work with you to reschedule based on availability.
