Gull Island Water Taxi
This rock island, located about 3 miles from the Homer Spit, is home to 20,000 sea birds during the summer. A hustling and bustling hub of different species coming, going, and nesting. The most predominant species located on Gull Island are Black-Legged Kittiwakes and Common Murres. Other common residents include Big Glaucous-Winged gulls, Tufted Puffins, Pelagic and Red-Face Cormorants, and Pigeon Guillemots. Bald Eagles are also known to make an appearance during hunts and Sea Otters are often floating nearby.
The Island is a stunning sight to the naked eye. Provided binoculars offer a more intimate view of the nestling babies and birds that take comfort in the crannies of the rock. You’ll also take in the smells of the Island as well as the sights.
The boat will circle around for a 360° view on this ride-along tour. Bring a camera, a hat, and smelling salts!
